MMO Tubular Titanium String Anodes
Introduction
A range of dimensionally stable multipurpose tubular titanium anodes for use in a variety of application and environments. The anode may be used in vertical or horizontal groundbeds and in fresh water, sea water soils, muds, etc.
The active coating consists of Iridium and Tantalum Oxides (as well as other minor oxides) which renders the anodes suitable for both oxygen and chlorine evolution reactions. The titanium tube has a wall thickness of 0,89mm.
Cable - Anode Connection
Particular attention has been paid to the integrity of the cable to anode connection, for which there are three levels of insulation. Firstly, there is a heat shrink sleeve over the connection from the cable to titanium insert. Secondly the tube is filled with epoxy resin, thirdly a rubber stoper is placed at the ends of the tube.
Tests have shown that each of the levels of insulation acting on their own provide a barrier against the ingress of moisture.

Anodes with other dimensions or different capacities (amp years) are available on request.
The capacity has been determined from tests carried out in sulphuric acid and sodium chloride solutions, for oxygen and chlorine evolution reactions respectively. The life with coke backfill will be higher, but it is difficult to predict in situations where both oxygen and chlorine are evolved. It decreases with the increasing oxygen evolution and vice versa, and for any given situation the value will be intermediate between that for pure oxygen and that for pure chlorine evolution.
For both types of evolution, the consumption rate is approximately constant in the range 5-50ºC, but increases at higher temperatures. At 90ºC, the consumption is approximately double that at 50ºC.
Cable and Centralisers
Cable sizes ranging from 6mm² to 50mm², depending on the tube diameter, are available. The cable can be supplied with an insulation of XPLE/PVC, or EPR/CSPE or Kynar/HMWPE.
Anode strings are supplied either with a single or double tail. Centralisers and bottom weights are also available as standard items.
